Functional balance is a benefit of the method. The definition of functional balance is the ability to adapt to situations whereby the body can maintain a steady position to avoid a fall. Balance improves when the student is offered safe exercises to improve proprioception. Pilates offers balance opportunities for the advanced student, but for clients who are less nimble, those exercises are avoided for safety. Discover how to provide an appropriate level of balance training within a session or class adds to your toolkit as we explore progression, rehabilitation and safe protocols for active aging. Your clients will enjoy the challenge.
